About Romy McCloskey
Originally from Connecticut, Romy McCloskey was born into a family of artists. From a young age she was taught how to embroider and sew by her mother, grandmothers and great grandmother while learning how to draw and paint from her father.
She attended Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut and apprenticed under a well known designer at his country home. It was there, surrounded by luxurious fabrics, water-colored textile designs and blooming gardens that she was introduced to the complex art of creating beautiful clothing from conception to final production. At age 14, she knew that design was her true path.
Following Westover, Romy moved to New York City, spending time working hands on in the garment industry where she was exposed to the business side of the fashion world.
In the mid 1990’s she traveled to Savannah, Georgia, where, falling in love with the romance and mystery of the historic city, she chose to stay, attended and earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, in fashion design, from The Savannah College of Art and Design.
After graduation, Romy returned to New York City where she designed a wide range of women’s apparel.
She now resides in The Woodlands,Texas, where she fills her studio with colorful beads, threads and fabrics used to create very special pieces for clients worldwide.
